A CMS committee report warns of the need to safeguard "culturally distinct British productions".
It follows an inquiry into the UK TV and film industry which examined the effects of the rise of streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon and Apple TV. The report noted how "vital" dramas such as Adolescence are to the country's "identity, national conversations and talent pipeline", which they say is now "under threat". It is "time for streamers to put their money where their mouth is", the report read, suggesting that streaming companies should pay "5% of their UK subscriber revenue into a cultural fund to help finance drama with a specific interest to British audiences".A share of the revenue streaming services make from subscription fees should be paid into a fund to support British high-end TV production, an influential group of MPs has said.A spokeswoman for the Department of Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) said: "We acknowledge the challenges facing our brilliant film and TV industry and are working with it through our industrial strategy to consider what more needs to be done to unlock growth and develop the skills pipeline. The report also noted while the introduction of tax breaks for independent British films, and for film and TV studios in England may have helped, it was not a "silver bullet" for solving many of the issues facing British producers.

Instead, it expands into entrepreneurship, society, resilience, and the philosophy of long-term growth. For the Chairman and Managing Director of TVS Capital Funds, investing isn't merely about numbers or exits — it's about shaping the DNA of India's next generation of entrepreneurs
When Srinivasan launched TVS Capital, his conviction was simple: India was on the cusp of an entrepreneurial explosion. In the early years, the fund focused on mid-market businesses in consumer, services, and finance. The bet was bold — Indian capital, invested in Indian companies, for the long haul.Sometimes, he admits, TVS Capital even overpays — but for the right founder. "If the entrepreneur is strong enough to navigate cycles, even a slightly higher entry cost pays off in the long run." ... Scaling a PE fund in India hasn't been without challenges. And talent — that's always scarce. We can't just put out an ad for partners in Chennai." Despite this, Srinivasan has institutionalized TVS Capital with profit-sharing models for employees and a long-term vision of building an enduring platform that goes beyond fund-to-fund cycles. We want TVS Capital to be a trusted investor not only in India, but across Asia and Africa — while always staying true to our mission of empowering next-gen entrepreneurs." ... Even in the age of AI and technological disruption, Srinivasan insists that the fundamentals of entrepreneurship remain timeless.

MPTF Motion Picture and Television Fund celebrates 100 years of history in Hollywood
Shuler Donner started in the industry as a TV camerawoman. “I know what it’s like to be freelance and wonder how to pay the rent.In 1965, Variety reported Elvis Presley’s $125,000 gift, the single biggest donation to that point. The fund has been supported by directors (John Ford to Steven Spielberg, to name a few), actors (Barbara Stanwyck to George Clooney, Jodie Foster and Hugh Jackman) and execs (Samuel Goldwyn to Jim Gianopulos).Starting in the heyday of the studios, and for many decades later, workers would pledge a portion of each paycheck to the MPTF: Sometimes it was $1 a week, sometimes it was a fraction of their checks (0.5% to 1.5%). It provided a baseline of funding, but with the demise of the studio system, that stopped. The Motion Picture & Television Fund, celebrating its 100th anniversary, might be the most active, admired — and most misunderstood — organization in Hollywood.
